Farimont District holds first ever event

Posted: Updated:
LAWTON, Okla._The Fairmont Creamery held its first official event on Saturday.

The day started off with several kids events including archery, go karts, and other games. It was the adult's turn in the evening with a beer garden and live music to round out the night.

Organizers hope to turn that area into the Fairmont District, making it the brick town of Lawton.  Jon Rutherford is the President and CEO of the Fairmont District and says Lawton deserves something like this.

Rutherford said, “We are going to have lots of fun. It's a people oriented area in Lawton because we don't have one. We are going to have a place for people to come and have fun without spending a lot of money."

John hopes to have more music and more activities the whole summer at the Fairmont District. The building isn't fully complete, but they hope to attract businesses and even have apartments in the building.
