Cameron Class of 2014 graduates

Posted: Updated:

LAWTON, Okla._ More than 1,000 Cameron University students received their diplomas Friday night, and many of the graduates walked across the stage at the annual commencement ceremony.

John McArthur, university president, addressed the students, faculty and packed stands filled with parents and loved ones.

The keynote speaker, Bill W. Burgess Jr., is an alumnus of Cameron and says it was an honor to give the commencement address to students at the university he is forever indebted to.

“I have no idea where I would be if it wasn't for Cameron University,” says Burgess. “The one thing I admire about this generation is they're not scared. I think they're less scared than other generations. I think these kids are anxious to get out there, and anxious to have fun, and anxious to prove themselves."

The class of 2014 was Cameron’s largest graduating class.
