Associated Press DUNCAN, Okla. (AP) - In a state that popularized fishing with bare hands, one of the largest Republican gatherings in Oklahoma involves battered fried fish.

Over the past 10 years, the Stephens County GOP Fish Fry in Duncan has become a must-attend event for Republican lawmakers and candidates hoping to make a name for themselves with conservative voters.

Up to 1,000 people are expected to descend on the Stephens County Fairgrounds on Saturday to pay $25 for a plate of fried fish, beans and coleslaw and the chance to meet and shake hands with some of the state's biggest Republican names.

Among the current officeholders expected to attend are Gov. Mary Fallin, Lt. Gov. Todd Lamb, Attorney General Scott Pruitt as well as several state and local office holders and candidates.
