Man charged with negligent homicide in fatal accident

GRADY COUNTY, Okla._New charges have been filed against a man involved in a head-on collision in Grady County last year that claimed the life of a Rush Springs woman.

The driver of the truck, Justin Scaffinger, is now being charged with negligent homicide. According to an affidavit, cell phone records show that Scaffinger was using his phone at the time of the collision, which caused him to veer into oncoming traffic. 66-year-old Prudie Garrett was killed in the crash. Initial reports indicated Garrett had weaved across the center line causing the crash.

Scaffinger is due back in court for a jury trial in August.
