City proclaims June 4th 'Justice for Mary Morgan Day'

Posted: Updated:

COMANCHE, Okla. One family finally has the proclamation they've been hoping for after emotions ran high in this week's Comanche city council meeting.

"Therefore I, Debbie Hancock, Mayor of the City of Comanche, State of Oklahoma, do hereby proclaim June 4th, 2014 Justice for Mary Morgan Day," said Comanche mayor, Debbie Hancock.

In a special meeting Thursday, the Comanche city council approved the proclamation with a unanimous vote.

Earlier in the week, family and friends of Mary Morgan Pewitt confronted the council when their proclamation was left off the city's agenda, despite the proper paperwork.

Now the group can move forward with plans for June 4th to raise public awareness about Mary Morgan Pewitt's cold case. Pewitt was brutally stabbed to death in her Comanche home back in 1988. Her murder remains unsolved.
