Wichita Falls officer on paid administrative leave

WICHITA FALLS, Texas_A Wichita Falls police officer is on paid administrative leave following an officer involved shooting Wednesday night.

Police responded to a family disturbance call in the 2000 block of Gloria Lane after 6:00 p.m. where the incident escalated after police opened fire and killed 22-year-old Joshua Powell. Powell wasn't armed with a gun but did have a weapon. Police have not released how many times Powell was shot.

The officer who shot him is a ten year veteran with the WFPD and remains on paid administrative leave.
