Hall of Remembrance dedicated to fallen Oklahoma soldiers

Posted: Updated:

FORT SILL, Okla._It's called the Hall of Remembrance, a new room dedicated at Fort Sill to honor fallen Oklahoma soldiers.

More than 150 families showed up for the special moment; they watched picture after picture of brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, mothers, and fathers who have fallen in combat. For each picture on the wall, their name was called out in a final roll call honoring their life, their service and their sacrifice. Fort Sill's Commanding General, Mark McDonald, says they can't honor their sacrifice enough.

"We go through the ceremonies and we're sad, truly sad, for a few hours and everyday we think about the fallen but every one of these that has lost a family member they think about them every day. Every day they think about that sacrifice. So this is just a small thing we can do to remember the," said Gen. McDonald.

Of the 153 fallen soldiers, 30 of them were assigned to Fort Sill. The hall is open to the public in building 4700.
