Residents in the affected areas of Fritch have another problem to deal with

Fritch, TX - Now that some homeowners are back in the affected areas of Lake Meredith, The city is trying to bring those water lines back up so residents can have access to water again. 

The city's public works director, Cody Benge, says water lines were shut off Sunday night after the fire started. 

The loss of structures in the area was also a big reason why the water lines were down. 

"We had to go down with the system," said Benge. 

He also says there wasn't enough crews during the fire to shut down every meter.

"After 24 hours, if the pressure drops below 20 PSI we have to issue a boil water notice," said Benge. 

During the boil water notice, residents are urged to boil water for 2-5 minutes before using it to cook or drink. 

This isn't the first time this has happened to Fritch. In the past, the city has had lack of water pressure and well pump failure. 

We also learned the city of Fritch will not be receiving FEMA funding. To be eligible for the aid, at least 810 homes would have had to be destroyed and $35 million worth of uninsured losses.
