LAWTON, Okla._ The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation continues to collect information in Saturday’s officer-involved shooting where a suspected burglar was wounded by police.
Investigators say they conducted more interviews Monday, and expect to do so again tomorrow.
Police shot the man in the chest outside a home on NW Williams after allegedly holding the homeowner hostage for several hours.
Police had gone to the house after getting a call from a neighbor asking to check on the man who lived there. The man in the home told police someone was inside, barricaded in a bedroom with a gun. Police forced their way in after failed attempts to get the man to give up the gun and surrender. When police entered the home they found the suspect had escaped through a window. The suspect was confronted by police outside and again refused to give up his weapon, he was shot in the chest.
The officers are currently on administrative leave.?
