Jury selection ongoing in Weimer case

Posted: Updated:

LAWTON, Okla._Jury selection is still ongoing for a Lawton man accused of killing a two-year-old boy.

Prosecutors said Charles Weimer told police that his fiancé’s son, John Gonzalez Jr., fell down concrete stairs in January 2012, but a medical examiner's report says the boy's head and internal injuries were not consistent with his story. Police believe Weimer hit the boy, knowing he would suffer serious injury.

Jury selection is expected to wrap up Tuesday, giving both sides the opportunity to present opening statements and the state a chance to call its first witness.
