Lawyers request mental evaluation again

Posted: Updated:

DUNCAN, Okla._A Stephens County man who's accused of killing a Velma teen may have his competency evaluated once again.

Defense lawyers for Miles Bench have requested yet another mental evaluation for their client just months after a jury found Bench competent to stand trial. Bench was originally scheduled to stand trial for murder back in April, but proceedings were pushed back to have the competency hearing. Now another has been scheduled for June 6.

Bench is charged with 16-year-old Braylee Henry's murder in 2012. If convicted, he could receive the death penalty.

4/17/2014 Bench found competent and will stand trial
