Local Alzheimer's Association Kicks of Summer Events

Posted: Updated:
Amarillo, TX - More than 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's.

The only way to slow down these numbers is research for a cure.

That's why our local Alzheimer's association is kicking off a summer filled with fundraising events.

Sunday at Joe Taco the group was out promoting their mission.

Traci Sommers is with the Alzheimer's Association and says Alzheimer's is the 6th leading cause of death and something like this needs to be talked about in the community.

"This is a great event to bring awareness and raise funds to go toward research care and support," said Sommers.

One of the fundraising events held every year is the Blonds vs. Brunettes Flag Football Game.

Tickets are currently being sold for the event which will be held on June 21st at the Civic Center.

Money raised will benefit research efforts for the Alzheimer's Association.
