Paradise Valley Volunteer Fire Department Fish Fry

Posted: Updated:
LAWTON, Okla_More than five hundred people turned out for paradise valley volunteer fire department's annual fish fry today.  It raises nearly fifty percent of the volunteer fire department's yearly funding, making it their biggest fundraiser of the year.

They plan on using that money for maintenance, new uniforms, and to repair their fire trucks.  Paradise Valley's Fire Chief Doug Wright said the entire department is humbled by the overwhelming support of the community. "They know that their fire department is very important and they know we need to be supported, and they do an excellent job of it,” said Wright.

He spoke highly about the relationship between the community and the fire department. "Well it says a lot to my firefighters that we know we are supported by these people. What it says about them is that they care about us plus I also think it says they like fish too,” said Wright.

More than sixty gallons of fish were fried at the event.  Officials say it’s more than just a fundraiser, that the fish fry is an annual community event that many in the area look forward to every year.
