2nd Annual Warriors in Transition picnic

LAWTON, Okla_Nearly a thousand people showed their support of the troops today at the Second Annual Warriors in Transition picnic at VFW Post 5263.  The event is held to raise money to benefit those soldiers that have been wounded in combat and are transitioning out of their military service.

Great food and live music welcomed those wounded warriors today at an event that organizers say is a blessing to be able to do. David Fenter is the Commander for VFW Post 5263, and for him, today is one of the most important events.

"To us, we are all combat veterans that belong to this organization, so it's very important to us individually and collectively as a group to make sure the people following us are in fact taken care off,” said Fenter.

Other members of VFW Post 5263 said it was an honor to do this for those soldiers, airmen, marines, and sailors. Organizers say that fundraisers and events like the one today were few and far between back then, and that they will continue to help wounded warriors for as long as they can.
