Deputies continue to investigate a brutal beating

COMANCHE COUNTY, Okla._Three people have been arrested in connection with a brutal beating in rural Comanche County that left the victim in intensive care.

Sheriff Kenny Stradley says Chris Fields, Allen Anderson and Maleena Sullivan lured the victim, Braylin Jenkins, to their house, then beat him with a bat and robbed him last Wednesday. At first, investigators believed Jenkins may have been breaking in, but a closer look led them to believe that it was staged in order to cover up the robbery.

The home owners had told deputies that Jenkins had forced his way into their house, pushed a woman and then her husband, that's when a friend defended their property by hitting him with a baseball bat. They then said they asked where he lived and took him there in his truck.

Sheriff Stradley says after some more questioning they found out that was not the case. Stradley says the real story is turning out to be that the defenders knew Jenkins and the woman had lured him over.

"This is when her husband took the baseball bat and started hitting this individual in the head, and another individual that was there got a shotgun and they put him outside and hit him several other times with a baseball bat in the head and all down the body," said Stradley.

This was all a plan to rob Jenkins, their loot was $50.

After beating him outside, Christopher Fields and Allen Anderson put Jenkins in his own truck and drove him home and dropped him in the ditch. They told deputies when they left he was walking to his gate, because of Jenkins' condition, Stradley isn't buying that either.

"He was pretty bloody and bleeding out of the ears. It didn't look good. They called in Medivac because it looked pretty bad," explained Stradley.

Jenkins was rushed to the hospital and on Thursday he underwent surgery on his head.

"He had, going into surgery, swelling of the brain and he's as I understand had several titanium plates put in and he's still critical," said Stradley.

All three are now behind bars for robbery with a dangerous weapon complaint, and Stradley says they could be facing even more.

"We are putting it all together and then we are presenting it to the DA and then they'll decide what charges to be filed,” said Stradley. "It's really a serious thing. This guy could really had lost his life because he was beat pretty bad, over $50."

Stradley says they're about halfway through their investigation. They are still looking over phone conversations and waiting until they have a chance to talk to Jenkins before presenting their case to the DA.
