LPD receives grant to help fight crime

Posted: Updated:

LAWTON, Okla._ The police department here will soon receive a grant to continue fighting crime in some of the city's most dangerous neighborhoods.

The department will receive $45,000 from the Oklahoma Attorney General's Office.

City officials plan to use the money for an ongoing program targeting crime in Zone One and Zone Two, including the area between Ft. Sill Boulevard and Sheridan Road.

The city says this program is already helping to improve public safety. The money will be used, in part, to pay overtime for both uniformed and undercover officers.
