Dumas Kicks Off Annual Dogie Days

Amarillo, TX - The annual Dogie Days began this week in Dumas and will continue through Saturday.

The celebration first began on 1946 to help meet commitments made to the Lllano Estacado Boy Scout Council to aid the Don Harrington Ranch home for Scouting in Amarillo.

It has since evolved from an event known as the Dumas Annual Old Settler's Reunion and Rodeo.

Today, the Dumas Noon Lions Club donates proceeds to local charities and buys eyeglasses for those in need.

Proceeds also go to many causes such as the Leader Dogs for the Blind and the Texas Lions Camp for handicapped children.

Dogie Days includes a carnival, food booths, parade and town barbecue.

You can also buy a ticket to win a Jeep Wrangler, which will be announced June 14.
