High school robotics team mentors young children

Posted: Updated:

LAWTON, Okla._While most children are spending the summer hanging out, some Lawton youngsters have spent the past two weeks learning how to build robots.

Those children put their work on display in a robotics competition at MacArthur High School as the two-week camp came to an end. Their teacher says robots are not only fun but they're also a lucrative business.

"Today's economy is based very much on technology, problem solvers and critical thinkers and if we get them starting that younger and younger, the better our economy will look in the future," explained robotics coach Stephen McKinley.

The children were mentored by high schoolers in the robotic club.
