Texas Restaurant Association Education Foundation Honors Outstanding Employees

AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas Restaurant Association Education Foundation (TRAEF) Employee Excellence Awards are presented to employees at Texas Restaurant Association member restaurants who exhibit outstanding leadership and dedication in performing their jobs on a daily basis. These employees are key to the success of the restaurants where they work and awards are presented in three categories: front of the house, back of the house and management.

Manager: Arrin Plowman, General Manager, Parkway Grill, Wichita Falls

Arrin began working as a dishwasher in his family’s restaurant at the age of 14. He grew from kid cook to bartender and eventually manager, moving up through every position in the restaurant. Arrin’s dedication to his community and persistence led to Parkway Grill becoming one of the first restaurants in Texas to launch the Round It Up America program. Arrin completed TRA Bootcamp and LeadershipTRA training however, after a fire gutted Parkway Grill he truly rose as a strong leader and manager. While Scott Plowman traveled the state as TRA President, Arrin took on further responsibilities, acting as a multi-unit general manager and the restaurants thrived with record sales.

Front of the House: Patricia Dymond, Zentner’s Daughter Steakhouse, San Angelo (posthumous)

Trisha worked in her family’s restaurant for over 30 years and was known for going the extra mile for the good of customers or employees. Trisha was a person the staff counted on not only to get the job done, but get it done correctly.

Back of the House: Adan Loza, Line Cook, Reata Restaurant, Fort Worth

Adan has worked in the restaurant industry for 20 years. Eight years ago he began at Reata Restaurant as a dishwasher and worked his way up to become one of their most respected and dependable lead cooks. Adan is the heart of the kitchen, an integral part of making the wheels of the restaurant go around and has an innate ability to build morale.

The awards will be presented at the 2014 TRA President’s Gala in conjunction with TRA Marketplace, June 22 in Houston, Texas.
