Marlow creates community task force for full-time fire department

MARLOW, Okla._The city of Marlow is one step closer to hiring more full-time firefighters.

In Tuesday night's meeting, the city council voted to create a community task force solely designed to inform the public about the progress that the city makes while the fire department transitions to full-time. The task force will be comprised of up to nine appointed members of the community and officials, including the Marlow Fire Chief. City Administrator Jason McPherson says the committee will help the city not only communicate to residents, but to help put any rumors to rest during the process, which McPherson says could take over a year.

He says they hope to have the committee in place by the next council meeting on July 22.
