School lunch price increase

Posted: Updated:

LAWTON,Okla._The price for school lunches will increase in the fall.

The Lawton board of education decided Thursday on a 10-cent increase putting the price at $2.25. Superintendent Tom Deighan says the decision was a necessary move.

"The federal government requires that we maintain a certain price on our lunches. Currently that scale is $2.59. We're required to raise our lunches every year to try to meet that," said Deighan.

The board also made the decision to reorganize school bus routes for the upcoming school year. Deighan says parents will be notified by Aug. 1 on the details of the revised routes.
