Charleston, SC (PRWEB) June 27, 2014
College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) announces the 2014 CFPA FCS Quarterback Award Watch List. The initial watch list includes 36 quarterbacks vying for the top quarterback award in the Football Championship Subdivision. All players are eligible for awards at their respective positions; players are not preemptively eliminated from consideration.
The initial list includes four returning CFPA winners: Vernon Adams (Eastern Washington), Drew Reed (Lafayette), Sawyer Kollmorgen (Northern Iowa), and John Robertson (Villanova). Adams earned the 2013 CFPA FCS National Performer of the Year Trophy.
"Thanks for everyone in the CFPA studio for putting me on the Quarterback Award Watch List," said Adams. "There are a lot of great quarterbacks there. I appreciate it."
Southland Conference Quarterbacks on 2014 CFPA Watch List:
Five Southland Conference quarterbacks earned spots on the 2014 CFPA FCS Quarterback Award Watch List. Southeastern Louisiana quarterback Bryan Bennett earned a spot on the list after finishing the 2013 season with 3,165 passing yards and 1,046 rushing yards. Bennett averaged 8.94 yards per pass attempt and 5.72 yards per carry.
Were very excited for our five quarterbacks that have been named to the 2014 College Football Performance Awards Watch List, Southland Conference Commissioner Tom Burnett said. We believe these student-athletes will lead their teams to great success this season, and we appreciate CFPA recognizing their potential.
Fordham's Michael Nebrich Earns Spot on 2014 Watch List:
Fordham quarterback Michael Nebrich earned a spot on the 2014 CFPA FCS Quarterback Award Watch List. For the season, Nebrich completed 73.54% of his passes for 4,380 yards and 35 touchdowns. He also rushed for 513 yards and nine touchdowns.
Two Fordham players have earned CFPA honors. Former Fordham tight end Stephen Skelton earned CFPA honors in 2010, while current Tampa Bay Bucs specialist Patrick Murray earned the 2011 CFPA Punter Award and 2012 CFPA Placekicker Award.
"There is not a quarterback in the country who works harder and is more prepared week in and week out than Michael Nebrich," said two-time CFPA winner Patrick Murray. "He can do it all and win the CFPA award this year, mark my words. It's a tremendous honor to be on the watch list for such a prestigious award, and he has earned every bit of it."
