Fort Sill: South American Ambassadors visit immigrant children

LAWTON, Okla._ A spokesperson for DHHS said Monday they have had several tours of elected officials and other government leaders at Unaccompanied Alien Children shelters, including Fort Sill to observe the program.

Ambassadors of Guatemala and El Salvador have visited Fort Sill in recent weeks, and the number of Undocumented Alien Children at Fort Sill has slowly inched up since last week's reported head count of 1093.

Monday, the federal agency reported 1146 Undocumented Alien Children are now living on Fort Sill.

The number of children has fluctuated over the past week after 183 were released from the agency’s custody and into the custody of family members or sponsors.
