Lawton man tries to elude police, crashes his car

LAWTON, Okla._A Lawton man took police on a pursuit Monday night that ended with the driver wrecking his vehicle and fleeing the scene.

Detectives attempted to stop a vehicle that was speeding on Rogers Lane, but the vehicle sped up and eventually lost the detectives. They found the vehicle shortly after, wrecked at Third Street and Bell Avenue but the driver, later identified as Craig Jefferson, had fled. They were able to find the address of the driver and began to watch the house. When a vehicle left, they noticed he was a passenger in the vehicle.

Jefferson was arrested for an outstanding warrant, eluding a police officer, speeding, and for leaving the scene of an accident.
