Tiffany Apartment residents are dealing with a "stinky" situation

Posted: Updated:
Amarillo, TX - Residents of a local apartment complex are dealing with a sewage problem.

Residents of Tiffany Apartments tell me for the last few days they have found toilet paper and sewage water along their doorways, sidewalks and even in some cases, inside their homes.

"This is a constructive eviction, I cannot use my apartment," says Mindy Burrow, Tiffany Apartments Resident.

Burrow says for the last few days there has been a sewage overflow problem. She sent us pictures with sewage water along doorways and sidewalks and even toilet paper and human waste were found. Burrow has tried addressing the issue with management and says she doesn't get much of a response.

"That we are short on maintenance, they have repeated that to me verbally on several occasions and we have that in writing on notices attached to our apartment doors and frankly that's not my problem. I contracted for service for an inhabitable dwelling and I'm not receiving that." says Burrow.

So we went to check it out for ourselves and found water coming out of a sewer and an unlocked utility room with a bad smell. Some residents even claimed it's a problem to leave their home because they have to step over sewer water and deal with the smell going inside.

"I can shower at the gym, I can shower at work and I have bottled waters that I keep for my coffee maker and I've been eating out a lot more," says Burrow.

Tiffany Apartments management declined to comment. And due to the holiday weekend, city officials from the Environmental Health Department were unavailable.
