Amarillo, TX - The Amarillo Police Department responded to hundreds of calls for service on July 4th.
Between the hours of 2 p.m. and midnight, AECC received over 700 calls for police service.
More than 300 of those calls were for firework violations. There were several dozen firework calls after midnight as well.
APD Officers and Amarillo Fire Marshal's officers made arrests and issued citations throughout the day and nighttime hours, however the number of citations issued is not available at this time.
In addition to the hundreds of firework calls, officers also responded to numerous fight calls, assaults, wrecks and normal everyday police calls for service incidents.
Numerous officers were also sent to Hamlet Park on a large crowd that was involved in fights, as well as firework complaints from neighbors.
