APD arrest man after employee catches suspect

Posted: Updated:
AMARILLO - A man is under arrest after breaking into a business and being held at gunpoint by an employee.

The Amarillo Police Department says Christopher Lee Yarbrough, 38, was attempting to steal rims and a lawnmower from a car lot on the 3100 block of Amarillo Blvd E on July 5th.

Yarbrough was caught by an employee of the business and held at gunpoint. The employee said the car lot had been hit several times in the past few weeks, and he and other employees were taking turns staying overnight.

When the employee heard noises around 4:00 a.m., he grabbed a semi-automatic rifle from the shop and investigated.

When police arrived, Yarbrough was placed under arrest and booked into jail under burglary charges.
