Accident sends four people to the hospital

Posted: Updated:

ALTUS, Okla._A woman has been arrested after causing a wreck in Altus that sent four children to the hospital.

Police said Adriana Lopez was found several houses away from the accident scene Sunday night after she slammed into a car at the intersection of Spurgeon and Elm. Two children in her car, ages 3 and 5, were taken to the hospital for various injuries. Two teenagers in the other car were taken to the hospital for head injuries.

Witnesses told police that Lopez removed the two young children from her car, and then walked away and sat on a porch at a house. Police said she made no attempt to identify herself as one of the drivers involved. She said the kids were belted together in the front seat, but not in child restraint seats. Lopez was arrested for driving under suspension, driving without insurance, not having child restraints, and leaving the scene of an injury accident.

No word on the conditions of the injured children.
