Portales, NM - An attempted escape of a Roosevelt County Detention Center inmate leaves a Roosevelt County employee injured.

Several officers joined the pursuit near Muleshoe. Mendoza was stopped near Sudan. He was arrested and taken back into custody.

The Roosevelt County Detention Center was holding Mendoza for Eddy County. The county employee received medical treatment at Roosevelt General Hospital and was released.
