Distracted driver causes three car collision

Posted: Updated:

LAWTON, Okla._A traffic accident shut down traffic on Rogers Lane, backing it up for several blocks.

An SUV had broken down in the right-side westbound lane on Rogers and another car had pulled in front of it to help. Police said another driver told them had reached into his glovebox, and when he looked up, he tried to swerve left to avoid the stopped car. The driver clipped the SUV’s back bumper, then lost control, went through the median, and stopped on the eastbound lanes. The collision knocked the SUV into the car that had stopped, and then it rolled into a concrete wall.

One person went to the hospital with a wrist injury. Police said the injured victim was working on the car when the accident happened.
