Man arrested in connection to Clovis Homicide

A man wanted out of Clovis in connection to a homicide from earlier this week has been arrested.

According to the Clovis Police Department, Eric "Spanky" Valdez has been charged with murder.

Officials say after an arrest warrant was issued on Friday. Valdez told police he shot Jose Barrera who was found dead on Monday in a Clovis home.

Police said that the motive for the homicide stemmed from a conflict between Barrera and Valdez, involving Valdez's young daughter.

Officials say Valdez is in the Curry County Detention Center with a bond set at $100,000.
