Arrest made after neighborhood chase

LAWTON, Okla._A motorcyclist has been arrested after speeding away from Lawton police Tuesday night before he ditched his bike and lead officers on a foot chase.

Authorities said they followed Jason Dirks after seeing him drive a motorcycle away from a suspected drug dealer's home on northwest Taft Avenue just after 8:00 p.m. When Dirks realized police were tailing him, he sped away zig-zagging through the neighborhood before ditching his bike near the intersection of Pershing Drive and Ferris Avenue.

Dirks tried running from police, but it didn't take officers long to tackle him to the ground. Police said Dirks had 6.5 grams of meth in his pocket. Dirks was arrested for reckless driving, eluding police and possession of meth.
