Local motorcycle club helps bring relief from the heat
LAWTON, Okla._One organization in Lawton is helping families beat the heat. The Omega chapter of the Iron Order Motorcycle Club teamed up with the Salvation Army to make sure families are staying cool during these triple digit degree weather days.
More than 50 box fans and air conditioning units were donated Saturday from people across the city.
Chris Moore was one of the organizers says just because they are bikers doesn't mean they don't fully enjoy giving back to the community.
"A lot of times bikers get a bad rap, and we are trying to change that image as much as possible," said Moore.
They try to help out anyway they can, with just about any cause, but during the summer they know the heat can be unbearable.
"You have to think about it, there is a lot of families that don't have that cool that they need, and with little kids, and that's a big deal for us, is the kids. Anything to help out the little kids," said Moore.
Moore says they are just tough guys with big hearts and love helping out.
