CEMENT, Okla._ A man died here early Sunday morning after driving his pickup off the road before the vehicle caught fire.

Troopers say Ollie Simmons, 56, was pronounced dead at the scene after running off U.S. Highway 277 at an “unsafe speed.”

The accident happened just east of Cement at 7:25 a.m., authorities say. Simmons drove into a ditch and continued driving, hitting a gas line marker and a tree before the car caught fire.

Simmons was pinned inside his pickup for three hours before being cut out by the Cement Fire Department. Troopers say Simmons was not wearing a seat belt.
