Amarillo, TX - A 14-year-old Dumas run-away is now in custody, accused of burglary in an Amarillo neighborhood.

Amarillo police say it happened just after 10:00 p.m. Thursday in the 4100 block of Prairie Avenue.

Witnesses spotted the teen prowling through parking lots and was seen getting into at least one vehicle.

As an off-duty officer approached, he reached for a Bowie knife.

The officer was then forced to hold him at gunpoint.

The juvenile has been booked into the Youth Center of the High Plains facing charges for carrying an unlawful weapon.
