Judge finds alleged shooter unfit for trial

Lubbock, TX - A West Texas judge says a man charged with shooting a Lubbock police officer is incompetent to stand trial.

33-year-old Jeremy Moor of Slaton, was ordered to remain at a treatment facility for up to 120 days.

It's unclear why he was deemed incompetent to stand trail, but the goal of this sentence is to make Moor fit for trial.

Moor is charged with attempted capital murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the connection to the October shooting of officer Timothy Varner.

The officer was shot multiple times outside of a downtown Salvation Army shelter.

Authorities say Moor had been turned away from the shelter because he refused to take a breathalyzer test.
