Former Duncan delivery driver remembered after fatal accident

Posted: Updated:

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla._The news of a pizza delivery person who was hit by a distracted driver in Oklahoma City hits close to home.

Michael Youngs was hit Monday night when a woman took her eyes off the road to reach down for her phone. She then veered off the road and slammed into a pizza parlor, causing the wall to collapse on top of the 47-year-old man. Youngs was from Duncan and worked as a delivery driver before moving to Oklahoma City. Allen Stokes, the owner of the Dominoes where Youngs worked, said he was more than an employee; he was a friend who helped him get his business off of the ground.

"He started handing out fliers before we even opened. And menu cards and menu boards and everything he could get out to his friends and neighbors. Michael was an intricate part of making that happen for us," said Stokes.

He said Youngs will always be remembered as a good person and a hard worker who loved life. So far no charges have been filed on the distracted driver.
