Mother will stand trial after her son tested positive for cocaine

LAWTON, Okla._A Lawton woman who has been charged with child neglect after her 8-year-old son tested positive for cocaine will stand trial for the crime.

Brittany Copeland was arrested last December after her child told authorities he found the drug in her room. School officials had tested the boy for drugs after he began acting violently in class and on the bus ride home. Court records show Copeland has a history of drug problems and was serving a suspended sentence for drug possession when she was arrested.

She will find out her trial date in her formal arraignment next week.
