Police: Impaired driver to blame for four-car accident, injuring six

Posted: Updated:

LAWTON, Okla._ Six people were injured Monday night in a four-car crash in south Lawton on Lee Boulevard, and Lawton police say a woman driving under the influence is to blame for it all.

The wreck happened around 7 p.m. That’s when police say a woman behind the wheel of a maroon Chevrolet Suburban first ran a red light at 13th Street before clipping a red four-door from behind.

The woman then crossed over the center median and T-boned another vehicle before almost coming head-on with a fourth car. The eastbound lane of Lee Blvd. from 13th Street to 14th Street was cut off for nearly an hour while police worked to get the damaged vehicles off the road.

All six people injured were sent to the hospital with minor injuries. The woman who caused the crash is expected to be arrested for driving under the influence and with a suspended license when she is released from the hospital.
