Teen drowns at Lake Texoma

COLBERT, Okla._ A fun game in the water turned deadly this afternoon at a lake in southeastern Oklahoma.

Troopers say a 15-year-old boy drowned in Lake Texoma. Authorities say the teenage victim and his cousin were swimming in the lake and decided to race to a sand bar 70 feet from the shoreline. The two made it 45 feet before stopping for rest. The victim then started yelling for help. The cousin tried to assist but he, too, was pulled under water.

When he made it to shore he saw the victim floating face down before sinking into the water. The teenager's body was recovered from the lake by dive crews around 6 p.m.
