2nd annual Project X Unity Festival works for new skate park

LAWTON, Okla._Folks were celebrating for good cause tonight at McMahon Memorial Park tonight all in hopes of bringing a skate park to Lawton.

The 2nd Annual Project X Unity Festival boasted live music, a skateboard competition  and even a live roller derby match all to raise money to build a new skateboard park at Elmer Thomas Park.

The project is in partnership with the City of Lawton and the Lawton Enhancement Trust Authority. Organizers say the project is about people coming together to improve their community.

"There are too many people sitting around complaining about our problems, but we don't have enough people standing up.  So what we did we decided we going ahead and stand up and we hope the community will stand beside us," said Project X organizer Gerald Simmons.

If you'd like more information on how you can help out the organization, you can check out their website at wearelawton.org.
