Wagstaff officially removed from position

LAWTON, Okla._Comanche County commissioners officially terminated Emergency Management Director Clint Wagstaff.

The news came Monday morning after the commissioners held an executive meeting. Commissioner Don Hawthorne said due to the importance of the position, the severity of the charges, and the amount of evidence already presented the move needed to be made. Last week, Wagstaff was charged with a string of felonies after a 14-year-old boy's parent found inappropriate messages between Wagstaff and their son.

Chloe Lewis was officially appointed as the interim director in Monday's meeting.

"Actually, I've done a lot of it before. I would be his backup, as it was, so I already had to do the duties of emergency manager many times. It's just a matter of making sure the services will be continued, and also make sure services that weren't being done, were done," said Lewis.

Lewis said she's already started preparations for the county's participation in National Disaster Preparedness month in September.
