Last chance to ask questions about Lawton sales tax

LAWTON, Okla._Lawton city leaders will be giving one final pitch to voters Monday night ahead of Tuesday's CIP election.

The $100 million vote includes extending a pair of sales taxes for eleven more years. Seventy percent of the plan will help fund public safety improvements. That includes the construction of a new police station and jail facility combination.

There's also a big chunk of money going towards road work to fix parts of Gore Boulevard and Rogers Lane, as well as $4 million for upgrades to city buildings and parks. Lawton Public Schools would also benefit by getting $12.5 million out of the deal. The meeting will give voters the chance to ask city leaders questions about the plan.

The open forum starts at 6:00 p.m. in the MacArthur High School cafeteria.
