Highway 81 project scheduled to end this week

DUNCAN, Okla._The State Transportation Department plans to wrap up its Highway 81 construction project in Duncan this week.

Northbound traffic on Highway 81 at Elder Avenue was reduced to one lane Monday morning so crews could begin final shoulder work on the project, which began in May. Southbound traffic on Highway 81 will be reduced to one lane to finish the other side of the highway on Tuesday. ODOT says they hope to have all lanes back open by Thursday.

The $624,000 project was started to improve bridges and waterways for Claridy Creek which runs underneath the highway in Duncan's business district.
