Lawton man arrested after taking a gun into a bar

LAWTON, Okla._A Lawton man is in jail after police say he brought a gun into a club.

Police were called to Chele's Club on south Sheridan Road after a bartender called 911 and said there was a drunk customer inside the bar carrying a gun in his waist band. When police arrived, they found Richard Basa sitting at a table with a gun tucked in his shorts. Basa was arrested for possession of a firearm where liquor is served, possession of a firearm while intoxicated, and possession of a firearm after a felony conviction.

Basa later told police he was carrying the gun for protection. He said he just got out of prison and people wanted him dead.
