Murder suspect fueled by money and greed

DUNCAN, Okla._Stephens County District Attorney Jason Hick's says murder suspect Alan Hruby owed about $3,000 in illegal debt--and had a history of over spending.

Last year Hruby pleaded guilty to stealing his grandmother's credit card. Investigators say he racked up several thousands of dollars while on a trip to Europe.

Despite warnings from his parents to slow down on spending, court documents show Alan refused even when he was cut off financially. Documents show over the summer Alan stole several checks from his grandmother's friend, making them out to himself and later cashing them totaling more than $20,000. Police recovered several of those stolen checks in Alan's Oklahoma University dorm room Monday, along with a piece of paper police say Alan used to practice forging the owner's signatures on.
