FREDERICK, Okla._A mother and her boyfriend have been arrested in the death of an 18-month-old child.

Kelly Lea Fairchild, 21, and Gregory Scott Miller Jr., 27, were arrested Thursday following an investigation into her child's death by the Frederick Police Department and OSBI.

The young child was taken to a hospital in Frederick on Friday, February 27, because he was unresponsive. Medical personnel tried to resuscitate the child for an hour before he was pronounced dead.

The Medical Examiner's Office performed an autopsy and determined the child had a skull fracture and subdural hematoma. The medical examiner also found a bruise on the inside of his lip, bruises on his forehead, bruises on the back of his head and a bruised ear. Miller told an OSBI agent that he accidentally stepped on the child the night he was taken to the hospital. Fairchild said her son was lethargic the day before he died.

Fairchild was arrested on a complaint of child neglect. Miller was arrested on a complaint of first-degree murder.
