Oklahoma's Hield named Big 12 Player of the Year

 Oklahoma junior guard Buddy Hield was named the Big 12 Player of the Year, the conference announced on Sunday.

Hield led the conference in scoring at 17.4 points per game, and also grabbed 5.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 38 percent from three. He is the third OU player to win the award, following in the foot steps of Hollis Price and Blake Griffin. 

Oklahoma's Tashawn Thomas was named the Big 12's Newcomer of the Year after averaging 11 points and six rebounds per game. Thomas joined the Sooners for his final year of eligibility after playing his first three years at Houston. 

For Oklahoma State, the Cowboys' Le'Bryan Nash and Phil Forte were named to the Big 12's Second and Third Teams, respectively. Hield was named to the Big 12 First Team, and Thomas was honored on the Big 12's Third Team.
