Oklahoma defeats Dayton to advance to Sweet 16

In a back-and-forth affair, 3-seed Oklahoma knocked off underdog 11-seed Dayton 72-66 to advance to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday night.

It is the Sooners' first trip to the Round of 16 since 2009, when Blake Griffin was roaming the paint for OU.

Jordan Woodard led the way for Oklahoma with 16 points and Big 12 Player of the Year Buddy Hield chipped in 15 points.

Oklahoma led by as many as 12 points in the first half, before Dayton stormed back to take a 49-40 lead with 13 minutes remaining in the game. From there, the Sooners outscored the Flyers by 15 points to get the win and advance to face Michigan State in the Sweet 16 on Friday night in Syracuse, NY.

The victory also makes head coach Lon Kruger the first coach to take four teams to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.
