Cameron softball swept by West Texas A&M in doubleheader

No. 2 West Texas A&M proved that they were indeed worthy of their billing as the defending National Champions on Saturday, as they defeated No. 25 Cameron 11-7 and 13-5 in a pair of games at McMahon Field.

The Aggies got out to a 3-0 lead after two innings in game one, but the Lady Buffs scored eight runs on four home runs over the next two innings to take control of the game and set the tone for the rest of the series.

With its two victories over Cameron on Saturday, West Texas A&M earned a 3-1 series victory over the Aggies and took over first place in the Lone Star Conference. Cameron won game one of the series 4-0, but couldn't keep the momentum from that win rolling into the next three games.

The Aggies are now 25-6, 8-4 in the LSC. They trail only West Texas A&M in the conference standings; the Lady Buffs are 27-6, 13-3 in conference play.

Cameron is back in action on Tuesday in a two-game series with No. 19 Central Oklahoma at McMahon Field. First pitch for game one is slated for 1 pm.
